About Ank J. SteadySpear Artist at Large that's me. Ank J. SteadySpear beside the other talents of creativity, I am also a poet & a writer. I was born in Kingston Jamaica not in wealth so instead I was guided by intellects. In trying to overstand the pattern of who I am and where I came from, I left Jamaica around the age of fifteen. Currently I am an American citizen living in Holland with my wife Diana and daughter Ama. My wife was born in Hong Kong, China. She is also an artist of great merits an outstanding achievements. Ama... our beloved was born here in the Netherlands, she too is already an artist of accomplishment. We are a family of international creative individuals living under unity despite so-called cultural differences. Without acceptance of each other then the desire of a strong foundation would crumble. The love of my wife and daughter is the pivot of my motivations to achieve to be more than what other might have in store of me. When my wife and daughter are happy then I am happy. The sadness of my life involves economical blights. I was never considered to be a smart child. My labelling of stigma was I am too intelligent for my age thus, I was deemed a troublemaker by the ones with limited perception on a child with uniqueness. In the Netherlands this concurring stigma has impeded my photographic practice, my means of financial independent. Inside my head I remember this lesson from photo history class, "A picture may say a thousand words but a photojournalist who write more than a thousand words reveals more about the picture." In my head I capture the motions the stillness of individuals in fight often because of debasement of identity. From these recorded moments I write. My career goal is the establishment of IOTA (International Organization of Talented Artist) as an art institution, a forum of similar ideals and principles of learning, where creative-inspirations are nurtured into maturity. With pursue scholarly bliss and attainment on my academic zenith in higher education I will succeed. Credentials:
