I
am one of the Original Yardie from Jamaica, 51 Maxfield Avenue Big Yard
Crew not too far from Studio One and Channel One studio. As a little boy
these were the spots... yes I used to get beating a lot for stealing out
to jam on these spots... seeing the dreads them smoking a joint looking
out for cops. As an observer of life, the struggles led me to migrate
from Jamaica to the USA. I am the second child of a love gone wild. I
am social and cultural ambassador spreading positivty through the expression
of Arts

| AS: | Ank Justice SteadySpear... aka Ank Steady. |
| Self: | A very unusual name, was it your given name after birth, and does it have a meaning? |
| AS: | No... not a given name after birth, it was a given name from special family member at an enlighten moment in my life. The meaning in essence is the balancing of Words and Life. |
| Self: | Mmm... very deep, an enlighten Moment in your Life, please explain. |
| AS: | Well it was at a junction, a crossroad in my life which led to the completion of a cycle of learning... that's as much as I am willing to say. Your overstand of that moment maybe too complex to explain. The most I may say is study the symbol called the Ankh of ancient Kemet, which the Greek later called Egypt. |
| Self: | What country are you from? |
| AS: | Well I am not from a country, like all... I came from a Woman. My birth so-happen to be on a landmass by the title of Jamaica... thus, the document issued to me first for travelling may say Jamaica. |
| Self: | You are also a US Citizen as well? |
| AS: | Yes I am, I love to travel as a child on the Island I dreamt of doing just that. Being a US Citizen... gates to the rest of the World open with a friendlier face, except for the Middle East... but if I go there I would say I am Jamaican quickly. Preferable... I view myself as Citizen of the World... a being living on Planet Earth. |
| Self: | How many years have you been away from Jamaica and do you go back often? |
| AS: | It has been some years now since I left "JA" more than 15 years ago. Since then I have visited about 12 other countries. I have only being back to Jamaica once, the financial budget to travel at the moment it's limited. I do need more supporting patrons on my creativity... then I can travel more to my home. But I still want to see and photograph more of the world before I move on. |

| AS: | Yes... when I die, when I am no longer living. |
| Self: | In your travels, what's you favorite country to visit and why? Also what's your lesser favorite? |
| AS: | Sorry to disappoint you but I do not hold favorite in anything, therefore, I would not have a lesser favorite as well. There are many reasons why I might enjoy a country over another. I rather being in Hong Kong because of the Vegetarian Restaurants, they are the best but the pollution from cars on the street, that a health and environmental problem. Japan I like for the appearance of calm. America... I am very ambivalent towards, America have so much beauty yet still so much hate there. Currently I am living in The Netherlands and it's very very cold here both physical and metaphysical, but that1s the price in the exploration of knowledge. |
